Hare Krishna food for life, Udhampur is engaged in many social welfare activities.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
According to UNICEF statistics, India has more than 25 million orphans. Unfortunately, the fact is that in India more than 11 million children have been abandoned by their natural parents. Of these abandoned children 90% are girls. An off shoot of this male preference phenomena is that the male:female ratio is gradually decreasing.
The Chairman of HKFFL is working very hard to stop female foeticide.
MARRIAGE OF POOR GIRLS
HKFFL trust organizes marriages of poor girls who come from economically backward families, where a formal wedding celebration under normal circumstances would be impossible. The trust bears the entire cost of the wedding which includes clothing, jewelry, gifts, food for relatives and guests etc. Chairman of the Trust, H.H. Nava Yogendra Swami ji himself attends and supervises the marriage celebration.
EMPLOYMENT OF POOR
At HKFFL we try to uplift the talent of those persons who because of poverty or limited resources cannot exploit their talent. On 23rd September 2010, Chairman of the Trust encouraged Mohit Singh for his fearless journalism by awarding him a computer and Rs. 80,000 to start his own press. Since then, Mohit Singh has not looked back.
