The orphans and children from very poor family background are forced to earn money. This results in child labor.Sometimes, some unfortunate children are captured by “Mafias” who forcibly make them beggars or use them for criminal activities.
We at HKFFL, Udhampur are trying to rescue such type of children by giving them food, shelter and proper education with all their daily needs, free of charge.
According to UNICEF, in 2007 there were 25 million orphans in India. Although unfortunate, these children are the gift of God and it is the duty of every citizen to look after them and thus helping them to become civilized persons.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- Adopt 100-250 orphaned and needy children, to shelter and educate them.
- To bring them up with proper affection and care.
- To teach them how to enjoy today and face tomorrow confidently.
- To make them fit to face the modern society by making them professionals with spiritual values.
- To teach them selflessness and social responsibility by motivating them to build more orphanages, once they can stand on their own feet.
Story of Deepa, Suraj and Tulasi
About 7 years back, one of our volunteers at HKFFL came in contact with a few estranged young children, who had lost their mother and were wandering without shelter. After inquiring about the whereabouts of their parents, we found that their father had burnt their mother in a case of extreme domestic violence, stolen all the money in the house and was now trying to give the children to human traffickers in exchange of money. The names of these three children are Suraj, Tulsi and Deepa. We at HKFFL are committed to providing shelter to such children and give them hope for a better and secure future. Since the last seven years, these three children are residing at our orphanage in Udhampur. They are getting good quality education and all other facilities. They also get a lot of love and care from our female volunteers who serve them selflessly. Now these children have grown up and are working as responsible volunteers of HKFFL.

Story of Sanjeev
Sanjeev is a child from Barmeen village of Jammu & Kashmir. He was brought to our Gurukul in Udhampur at the age of 8 years by one of our orphan care team volunteers. Since then he is studying at the Gurukul. He lost both his father and mother at a very tender age, due to lack of good medical treatment in their native village. After his parents left him, he started staying with his uncle, who did not take proper care of him. His uncle used to feed him with roti and pickle only. Sanjeev also has two brothers and three sisters. The eldest brother is a truck driver, who never bothered to take care of Sanjeev after their parents expired. The second brother is a laborer but is not in touch with Sanjeev. Out of his three sisters, two have expired at an early age. His third sister is married and settled with her husband, but she also cannot take responsibility of Sanjeev. When one of our orphan care team volunteers came in contact with Sanjeev, he went to his village and brought him personally to our Gurukul in Udhampur. Currently, Sanjeev has been staying and studying at the Gurukul for 2 years and is happy with his situation. All his requirements are taken care of in the institution, free of cost. He is receiving good quality education and spiritual training in Bhakti Yoga.
